About thIS Section Hike
Although I grew up an just hour from the Pacific Crest Trail, I didn’t step foot on the trail until I was well into adulthood. Now, the PCT is suddenly exploding in popularity, with day hikers, section hikers, and thru-hikers flocking to see its beauty.
After thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2019, I was eager to set off on the PCT next. But, as much as I wanted to tackle another thru-hike and explore the entire length of this trail in 2020, my feet and knees simply weren’t up to the task. So rather than kick the can down the road until I was ready to hike all 2,650 miles, I decided to hike Section A of the PCT in January 2020.
This winter section hike doesn’t mean I’m completely giving up my dream of thru-hiking the PCT someday. But, for now, I’m willing to savor it and give it my undivided attention in smaller chunks.
