About the Grand Canyon

Of all my adventures, the Grand Canyon may be favorite so far. There’s nothing quite as majestic as hiking inside this natural wonder. Plenty of people stand on the rim and look across, but few are willing to take the challenge to hike all the way across from rim-to-rim.

In May 2017, my best friend and I fastpacked the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim-to-rim (or R2R2R) and I knew almost immediately that it wouldn’t be the only time I’d take on this epic challenge. It was awesome, and physically demanding, and beautiful (and did I mention insanely hard??) But I absolutely loved it – from the planning to the adventure itself. Over the years, I’d come back and do it all again several more times at varying speeding – including on my 800-mile thru-hike of Arizona Trail in 2022.

If you’re wondering about what this physical feat requires, here’s a few things to know and consider about a R2R2R hike.
