About thIS Section Hike
Back in 2021, I hiked 400 miles southbound along Oregon’s coastline from the Washington border to the California border via the Oregon Coast Trail. I loved the opportunity to get to see my home state from one end to the other, and I was amazed by the unique biodiversity along the way.
Fast forward two years, and I was now ready to explore Oregon’s interior with its rich volcanic history along the backbone of the Cascade Mountains. Rather than hiking it as one continuous stretch (or as part of a PCT thru-hike), I wanted to take on the 455-mile journey in bits and pieces starting at the trail’s southern end.
Some of my miles were hiked with gal pal and hiking partner Poledork. Others sections were hiked solo. And although I hoped to walk every single mile through Oregon this summer, there were some minor challenges that got in my way. To learn more, read all about the journey in my day-by-day trail journal below.
